A woman was “horrifically” stabbed in the neck in front of a group of people at a north London park.

Police are looking for members of the group who witnessed the attack on the 43-year-old woman in Lordship Lane Recreation Ground in Tottenham.

Officers were dispatched to the popular park to reports of an assault around 10pm on May 18.

They found the woman with what appeared to be “slash wounds” to her neck.

She was treated by London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance medics before being taken to an east London hospital where her condition was assessed as “not life threatening”.

A 59-year-old man, known to the woman, has since been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

However, police continue to ask anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

DC Simon Davis, investigating, said: “We know the victim and suspect were with a group of other people when this horrific incident unfolded. We need those people to come forward and help us build our understanding of what took place. Please do the right thing and contact us immediately.”
