Horror as woman in her 20s is shot in Peckham

Detectives are appealing for information after a woman in her twenties was shot in Peckham.

Police were called shortly before 3am on Sunday, May 23 to reports of gunshots in Consort Road, SE15.

Officers attended the scene along with London Ambulance Service where they discovered a woman suffering from a gunshot injury.

The woman is currently in hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers have remained at the scene as enquiries continue and a number of roads are currently closed.

An investigation has been launched and is being led by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident).

No arrests have been made.

Detective Chief Inspector Jimi Tele said: “We are all hoping that this young woman’s condition improves. Our investigation is in its early stages and urgent enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.

"I would appeal to the residents of Consort Road and the surrounding area to check any doorbell or dashcam footage for any suspicious activity that may relate to this investigation."
