Horror as primary school boy rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Bolton

A primary school pupil has been rushed to hospital amid unconfirmed reports he's been stabbed.

The incident happened in Bolton, Greater Manchester, at around 3pm on Saturday July 11.

The Manchester Evening News reports that witnesses suggested the boy, believed to be under 10, had been stabbed although police have yet to confirm or deny those.

Several police vehicles raced to the scene and an air ambulance was scrambled.

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics attended the scene and treated one patient.

She said the crew took a child under the age of 10 to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for further treatment and that the child was "alert" when paramedics attended.

Police set up a cordon around the scene while sniffer dogs searched the area.

People who live in the neighbourhood said it is usually quiet and they were in shock following Saturday afternoon's incident.

One said: “God, this is awful. I really hope he’s ok.”

Another resident said she fears for her own children after the incident.

The mum said: “It’s such a quiet street, I came outside and there was a helicopter overhead. I’ve never seen anything like it."

She added: “I do worry about my own children.
