Horror as huge blaze in roof of Leeds house spreads to four other homes

A huge fire at a terraced house in Leeds has spread to at least four other properties in a dramatic blaze.

10 fire crews were called to the scene in Glensdale Mount, Richmond Hill, at 11.30am today, Friday, after reports of a blaze in the roof of a house.

Firefighters from Killingbeck, Bradford, Hunslet, Leeds, Morley, Mirfield, Featherstone, Otley, Cleckheaton and Pontefract were all called to the huge fire.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say that the fire spread to four back to back properties.

West Yorkshire Police were also called to the scene and fire crews requested the Specialist Technical Rescue Unit due to concerns for the building structure.

A statement on the fire service’s site reads: “Fire in terraced property affecting roof spaces of 4 back to back properties.

"Aerial appliance requested to attend and incident made pumps 6. Specialist Technical Rescue Unit also requested due to concerns over building structure. 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and positive pressure ventilation used.

“Appliances from Killingbeck, Bradford, Hunslet, Leeds, Morley, Mirfield, Featherstone, Otley, Cleckheaton and Pontefract attended.”
