Horror as gorgeous dog tied to park bench and left to fend for himself in South Lanarkshire

SSPCA officers in South Lanarkshire have launched a bid for information after a dog from England was tied up and left in a park.

The male Staffordshire bull terrier was found by cops on Saturday before being taken to the charity for care.

Found out to be called Rocky, the dog was taken to the SSPCA Lanarkshire centre where he was checked over.

That’s after he was tied up in Bothwell Park in Hamilton. Now investigators from Scotland’s animal welfare charity are caring for Rocky as they try to find out what happened to him.

Dawn-Vale Juma said: “A concerned member of the public came in to our centre to report a dog tied up in the park.

“We immediately responded and found him tied to a bench. He was shaking and clearly in distress.

“We took him to the vet where they found he had a chronic skin complaint.

“From his microchip, we’ve been able to find out his name is Rocky and that he is five years old.

“The address on the chip is registered to an address in England. We’ve spoken to the previous owner who has been very cooperative.

“We have no idea how long he had been left tied up in the park. Rocky is a gorgeous boy and is very friendly.

“We are appealing to the public to help us find out more information.”

Anyone with any information on Rocky and what happened to him should contact the SSPCA helpline – anonymously – on 03000 999 999.
