Horrifying video shows seagull eating dead blackbird in Dublin

Predatory seagulls have moved on from "preying on pedestrians" to eating dead birds on the streets of Dublin.

In the video above a seagull pecks at the body of what appears to be a dead blackbird.

The footage is believed to have been taken outside The Barge pub in Dublin city centre.

Before lockdown the birds would regularly be seen around the city feeding off left over food and at times behaving aggressively towards pedestrians when looking for their next meal.

Workers in the city have previously named the birds 'flying dogs.'

Flower seller Catherine Claffey, who has been a trader on Grafton Street for more than 37 years, spoke to the Irish Mirror about the birds.

She said: “They’re so clever, they come behind people minding their own business having their sandwich and next of all you see this seagull coming from behind and you can see what’s going to happen."
