A man saved himself and a child after his car caught fire while driving down the M42 motorway.
The car was towing a caravan when the engine burst into flames at around 3pm on Friday July 15.
Passing bystander Mal Johnson witnessed the blaze as she was passing by on the other side of the motorway and snapped a picture of the man in question, according to the BirminghamMail.
The image shows the man running away from the car while carrying a pushchair frame and a baby seat on the hard shoulder.
Traffic was stopped by National Highways West Midlands (NHWM) soon afterwards, with delays of 45 minutes for other road users.
NHWM wrote on Twitter : "Traffic has been STOPPED on the M42 southbound in #Worcestershire between J2 (Birmingham) and J1 (Bromsgrove) due to a vehicle fire.
"The Fire Service have just arrived on scene. There's just over a mile and a half of congestion on approach."
Emergency services were called to the scene to deal with the fire, which was extinguished just after 4pm.
The fire was cleared six hours later, with all motorway lanes reopening just after 9pm.
NHWM later thanked drivers for their patience if they "were held up".
This wasn't the only car to catch fire this week, with a furniture van travelling on the M5 catching fire just 15 minutes prior to the incident on the M42.
Firefighters were quick to get the fire under control but traffic was at a standstill for several hours as a result.
All four lanes on the M5 required resurfacing due to fire damage, according to the fire service, with only one lane reopened by 7pm.
Three lanes were still closed at 9pm, with workers on scene to complete emergency resurfacing of the road.
The M5 fully reopened in the early hours of Saturday (July 16) morning, after 12 hours of delays for the repairs to be completed.
