Horrifying bodycam footage shows deputy sheriff's escape from deadly Camp Fire in Paradise

Horrifying bodycam footage shows a sheriff's deputy fleeing a fatal wildfire in Paradise after his patrol car broke down in the killer inferno.

Aaron Parmley, who was out seeking a group of nurses caught up in the tragedy, had to set out on foot as the deadly Camp Fire blazed around him.

In the video, capturing what he thought "were going to be the last moments of his life", he began by saying "okay, okay" to himself.

He then heard screaming, during the dire scenario on November 8, and said: "Oh, it's not good."

The officer headed further down a road, with flames either side, as wind battered embers across him.

Using his torch to guide his way through the smoke, he came across a group of people, said to be the lost nurses, fleeing the flames in California.

Hearing an engine in the distance, he guided the group in that direction, before bright white lights appear ahead.

Coming across the vehicle, a bulldozer, he asked the driver: "Can we get in?"

They quickly responded: "Yeah, come on."

After this, Mr Parmley himself runs around to another vehicle, to escape the blaze

The footage was released by the Butte County Sheriff's Office.

The deadly California Camp Fire, which killed at least 88 people, was 100 per cent contained as of Sunday.

It destroyed more than 150,000 acres of land, with some 14,000 homes in and around Paradise decimated.

As of Thursday, there were 197 recorded as missing.

The blaze, which lasted around three weeks, is the deadliest in California history.
