A "horrified" cat owner discovered her pet's eye was glued shut with super glue poured all over it.
Claire Isaac's four-year-old cat Primrose was acting skittish and running away when her owner got close.
When Claire, who lives in Llanelli, was able to get closer to the pet, she was "shocked" by what she saw, WalesOnline report.
She said: "I rushed her to the vets and we got there around midnight. The vets were obviously really shocked and saw that glue had gotten right inside her eye and burned the top of her eye. She had anesthetic, had to be cleaned, shaved and they had to pull the glue from her eye.
"I'm horrified that anyone could do this, it has really unnerved me. What kind of monster could do this to a cat?"
Claire, 26, who had to pay a £119 vet's bill, said the cat was so distressed after it she wouldn't let anyone near her.
She said: "She's a really timid but friendly cat, if someone was to call her over she would go and let them stroke her. She loves to climb and jump up things, I can't understand how someone could do something like that to an animal."
"They found a lot of super glue in her eye and the following morning another piece fell out, she was so distressed after it she wouldn't let anyone near her. I had to lock her in the house to get a good look and stop her running away."
Claire said vets have since told her that Primrose's sight is fine - but added the cat was still shaken up by the incident.
She also added that in the meantime she was also too scared to let her other pets out of the house.
"I don't think of them as pets, they aren't just a thing you own, I think of them as family, they mean the world to me,"
Claire has reported the incident to police.
Dyfed-Powys Police has been asked for comment.
