A horrified resident found a murder-bid victim's trainers in their garden after a hit-and-run in Paisley last night.
Emergency services raced to the incident on Springbank Road after 7pm on Thursday when a 37-year-old man was mowed down by a silver Toyota Yaris car.
Police are treating the attack as attempted murder after the man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.
Shocked neighbours have now told of their horror as the incident unfolded, with one even coming across the man's shoes after the incident.
One neighbour told the Record: "I came out of my front door not long after 7pm and saw a pair of man’s trainers in my front garden.

"People were saying a man had been hit by a car. I couldn’t see him but an ambulance was right outside my house.
"I handed the trainers over to ambulance staff and headed inside.
"We have children and families here. This is a dangerous road. We have campaigned for speed bumps in the past but been told our road is quiet.
"After this we will be campaigning again. It’s scary to think about what happened right outside your house."

Another added: "This is a quiet area with children and elderly, to think that an attempted murder happened here is scary, more people could have been hurt."
While one resident said: "I was working then looked out and saw all the commotion.
"People were saying a guy was taken to hospital but I only saw an ambulance and some people watching on.
"Now police are saying targeted which is terrible."

A fourth neighbour added: "Whatever happened was very sudden, police appeared out of nowhere last night.
"Now it’s lunchtime and they’ve left again. I hope they find whoever did this, so this doesn’t happen again."
The silver Toyota Yaris car involved in the incident fled the scene in the direction of Love Street.
It was discovered on fire a short time after at the Air Link Industrial Estate off Inchinnan Road.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 101, quoting reference 2974 of 21 April, or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
