An elderly couple were found dead in their swimming pool by friends who had come over for dinner.
The couple, from the UK, and were discovered at around 8pm on Saturday (July 30) at a home in Gignac, France. The friends are believed to have entered the home after receiving no response when knocking on the front door.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but nothing could be done to save them.

An autopsy of the bodies has been ordered by the Montpellier prosecutor's office to determine the causes and time of the two deaths, according to La Dépêche. The publication also reports there are currently no suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The man and woman are believed to be English and in their 80s. News reports suggest the pair had a holiday home in France, and they were thought to visit the sleepy town numerous times each year.
The town's mayor described the two as "very nice people who came several times a year and who occasionally participated in the activities of the town", reports France Bleu.
