Horrified Four in a Bed pub owners furious over 'disgusting' feedback

Channel 4 reality series Four in a Bed sees local B&B owners pitted against each other as they battle to be crowned the best place to stay after being sampled by their competitiors.

In a recent episode, pub landlord Dean Munday and his daughter Abby were left mortified over the reviews given about their much-loved Derbyshire B&B.

Dean, an ex-professional ballroom dancer who appeared on Come Dancing with Angela Rippon in 1988, runs the venue with his daughter Abby and filming took place earlier this month.

He joked: “We are best friends [but] I’m the boss because I know better," as Abby agreed: “Yeah, he is."

The Crown Inn in the East Midlands town of Heanor, offers fives rooms up to £75 a night with an extra £7.95 per person for breakfast.

Dean, who was a professional chef for 15 years, told Channel 4 the stay is "good value" but admitted he has "trouble" with traffic lights outside the front door.

Owners of Orchard Glamping in Lancashire, Becky and Tom Richardson slept in a "lovely, snug and modern" room costing £75 while owners of the Manor House Inn in Northumberland, Terry and Rachel Christie "expected" more from their room of the same price.

Dean told the fellow business owners that he recently refurbished the property and since then the pub is "doing well" and he's regularly told by customers he "should be charging more" but Becky disagreed and argued the charge for her room was "over the odda a little bit".

Becky and Tom struggled to sleep during the night because of road noise, and Becky felt like someone was watching her all night because of a safety light above their bed. Terry meanwhile also struggled to sleep because of the traffic noise, it was “unbearable, non stop” with Rachel adding: “I literally think it is the noisiest road I’ve ever slept in”.

The next day the B&B owners were expecting big things from the breakfast but were left disappointed, pointing out the poached eggs were runny and the black puddings fell apart.

The "friendly" hosts were awarded tens across the board, but their cleanliness score was hit much to the hosts' fury and facilities were rated “fine” but the views were “not great”.

Sleep quality was also rated poorly by both couples as they “didn’t get a wink” due to the road noise and, after a "disappointing breakfast" both couples said they would not return.

The father-and-daughter duo were "really disappointed" with the low cleanliness scores as Dean added: "That room has been absolutely fetted!"

Dean "couldn't believe" the breakfast ratings “when [he knew] everything was cooked to perfection” before noting he thought the comments were “disgusting” before reassuring Abby that it may be a "bit upsetting but we know we’re champions around here".
