Horrific pictures show Cork family home 'destroyed' by fire as fundraiser launched

A fundraiser has been launched after a family home was destroyed by a fire over New Year's.

Carol Delea and her four children had lived in Little Island in Cork for all of their lives.

However, their house caught fire on December 29, leaving the inside of it ruined.

No lives were lost in the incident, but they have had to rebuild the interior from scratch.

In order to help them out, locals in the Little Island community have launched a fundraiser to assist that rebuild.

A post from the organiser reads: "They will need a lot of support to get the house back to what it once was, a home. They will need the professional help , of cleaners, waste removal, trades persons, so anything at all to help speed this up, so Carol and her family can return to their home, would be greatly appreciated

"They love their home where they have grown up in. Many in Little Island will remember spending lots of time as children with Richard, Sarah, Laura and James, having plenty of fun in their house and garden.."

And the Little Island community, with a bit of help from around the country, has responded magnificently to help the family through their plight.

Already, their target has been smashed, with nearly €15,000 being raised at time of writing.
