Horrific picture of starved kittens found dumped in Aldi bag release by Scots animal welfare chiefs

Horrific pictures have been released of emaciated kittens dumped in an Aldi bag as Scots animal welfare chiefs continue their probe.

We told how the trio of nine-week-old cats were discovered abandoned outside St Clair Veterinary Group in Kirkcaldy at 3am on Friday, August 13.

One kitten was sadly found dead inside the supermarket bag, while another was hypothermic and had to be put to sleep.

The third kitten survived but is severely dehydrated, underweight and flea-ridden and is currently receiving care from vets.

Scottish SPCA bosses have appealed to the public for help and have released a shocking picture of two of the young cats lying on the bag as they continue their investigation.

The picture shows the kittens lying looking almost dead on an empty bag.

Scottish SPCA inspector Robyn Gray said, “The kittens were left in a zipped up Aldi cool bag.

“We’re not sure how long the poor things had been left for, as they could have gone unnoticed for a while.

“Sadly, one kitten had already passed away before they were discovered and another had to be put to sleep on veterinary advice. Luckily the third kitten has survived the ordeal and although not out of the woods yet is receiving the care it needs at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.

“We appreciate that the person who left the kittens may have intended for the animals to be found by the vets but this is not the right way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.

“If anyone recognises these animals we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”

If anyone is concerned about an animal, contact the charity's confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
