This is the shocking moment a Merseyside police officer is dragged into a busy road by a violent motorist.

A new Channel 5 series explores the alarming rise in police ‘Code Zero’ callouts – the radio call sign issued by officers who need urgent assistance, often when they are under attack and their lives are in danger.

PC Sayers was performing a routine traffic stop (Channel 5)

Told first-hand by the officers and using personal body cam footage as well as CCTV, Police Code Zero exposes and empathises with the dangerous situations faced by our police forces in 2019.

In Litherland , PC Kyle Sayers performs a routine traffic stop on Sefton Road after a vehicle is flagged as ‘off the road’ with no MOT.

After the motorcyclist pulls over, PC Sayers, who has worked as a traffic officer for seven years, questions him about his lack of documentation and illegal number plate.

But things become heated as the motorcyclist tells PC Sayers to ‘f*** off’ and refuses to sit in the back of the police car.

Motorbike ends up underneath bin lorry in dramatic crash as man taken to hospital  

He then attacks PC Sayers, striking him on the left side of his chest, pinning him on the ground in front of a busy road.

With his life in danger, PC Sayers makes a ‘Code Zero’ callout.

Police Code Zero: Officer Under Attack airs Monday, April 29 at 10pm on Channel 5.
