Horrific five-vehicle crash on Scots road leaves woman with 'life threatening' injuries

Cops have launched a probe after a horrific five-vehicle crash on a Scots road left a woman with 'life threatening' injuries.

Three cars and two motorcycles were caught up in the pile-up at around 4.30pm on Monday on the A7066 at the junction with the B792 outside of Bathgate, West Lothian.

Three people were rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries while others were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Online locals have described seeing a rider 'thrown' from the motorcycle during the massive crash.

The road was closed for around eight hours to allow a full scene investigation to take place.

Inspector Andy Gibb, of Lothians Road Policing, said: “This was a serious collision involving a number of vehicles and we are looking for anybody who was driving on the road or witnessed the incident to contact police.

“One woman has sustained life threatening injuries and I would urge anyone who has any information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.

"In particular, if there were any vehicles in the area at the time that may have dashcam footage that could help officers, I would ask that you get in touch.”

Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 2397 of Monday, 6 July, 2020.

On social media a local wrote: "The car came out of inside lane and hit the bike he was alongside her.. he was thrown from the bike.."

Another added: "This looked like a terrible accident, air ambulance parked at old Motorola site.

"This stretch of road seems to get busier and busier. I stay behind it and it’s like living next to a race track and some of the driving I have witnessed on this road is shocking so much so that I have stopped walking with my kids along the path beside it.

"During lockdown it was lovely and peaceful. Thoughts are with everyone involved and hope they all recover."
