'Horrible run' - Ex-Wolves and Sunderland striker makes Bolton Wanderers League One season claim

Bolton Wanderers are not one of the four sides which will be relegated from League One and a couple more wins on the board will make the table look a lot better for Ian Evatt's side.

That's the view of former Wolves and Sunderland striker Don Goodman.

Wanderers sit 17th in League One at present, five points above the drop zone of the third tier of English football.

At the start of October Wanderers sat just outside the League One play-offs after a 2-1 win over today's opponents Shrewsbury Town.

But a poor run of results which coincided with an injury crisis over the past three months has seen Evatt's men slip down the table and into the bottom half.

Bolton could move closer to the top half again and above today's opponents with three points over Salop, securing the double over the Shropshire side and build upon last weekend's win over Ipswich Town.

Goodman is in no doubt that Bolton are a better team than their current league position suggests and he does not believe that Wanderers are among the four sides which will be relegated this season.

But he believes a couple of wins will make the table more comfortable viewing for Evatt's side.

Speaking to OLBG, Goodman said: "It's really important they stay in the division; it just seems to have gone pear shaped since Ian Evatt said they were the best team in League One.

"They just went on an awful run, but I truly believe they're better than where they're at, but they just have had a horrible run.

"They're a big club and they're striving to get back to the big time, prior to that Ipswich victory they had lost four in a row. Ironically it was the first time they've beaten a team in the top half since September and that was also Ipswich.

"They need to back it up with results, but I don't see them being one of the four teams that will go down, but they would want to make it more comfortable than it's looking at the minute. A couple of wins will make that happen."
