Hornets vs. Heat Recap: The good, the bad and the LaMelo Ball

Malik Monk carried the Hornets through the first four quarters and Gordon Hayward and Devonte’ Graham took over from there as the Hornets downed Miami 129-121 in overtime on Monday.

Monk’s big night featured 18 first-half points, a career-high in 3-pointers and one of the biggest shots of his NBA career. Down three with just over 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Monk buried a 3-pointer to tie the game and force overtime.

In overtime, Hayward took over and carried the Hornets to the win, scoring six points in the extra session. Graham added a huge 3-pointer a dagger pull-up jumper in the extra session to secure the win.

Down Terry Rozier to start the night to injury, the Hornets lost P.J. Washington during the third quarter. Charlotte also trailed by 11 points multiple times on the night but never wavered, making multiple comebacks before controlling overtime.

Monk finished with a game-high 36 points while Graham had 24 and Hayward 19.
