Horizon Forbidden West will be launching this week and will serve as a direct sequel to the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn.
The story of protagonist Aloy will see her carry out a mission in the western United States as she goes up against a mysterious and dangerous threat known as the Red Blight.
Similar to the previous game, Forbidden West will feature a large open world that can be freely explored filled with a variety of machines and gadgets.

Forbidden West is also bringing some new features for players to experience including underwater exploration as well as an array of new weapons and tools that can be picked up throughout the adventure.

Horizon Forbidden West release date
Horizon Forbidden West will be launching around the world on Friday, February 18 and will be available exclusively on PS4 and PS5.
Initially, the game was supposed to be released last year but was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Game director Mathijs de Jonge stated on the official PlayStation Blog: "It's no surprise that our teams were hugely impacted by the global pandemic; we have been adjusting to new workflows protocols, and other challenges while keeping our teams safe and prioritizing a healthy work/life balance."
How to pre-order
Currently, there are two different pre-order options for PS4 and three options for PS5:
- Horizon Forbidden West (base game): £59.99 (PS4)/£69.99(PS5)
- Horizon Forbidden West - Special Edition: £69.99 (PS4)/£79.99(PS5)
- Horizon Forbidden West - Collector's Edition (PS5 only): £169.99
The Special Edition of the game doesn't come with too many extras except an art book while the Collector's Edition comes with plenty more extras including a digital soundtrack and some extra outfits in the game.
