Lewis Grabban conceded Nottingham Forest must start games with more intensity following the Reds’ opening day defeat at QPR.
Sabri Lamouchi’s kicked off their Championship campaign with a disappointing 2-0 loss at Loftus Road after second half goals from Lyndon Dykes, from the penalty spot, and Ilias Chair.
Grabban, last season’s leading scorer, missed several good chances and insisted a few positives could be taken from a largely disappointing day.
But with nightmares of last season’s finale still fresh, he admits a win is needed, however it comes.
“It is important to get that winning feeling back,” he told the club website.
“Last season is last season for me, we have to move on, we need to start doing our job this season and win games.
“I am disappointed, I would have liked to have scored at least one today. It was a tough day all round, not the start we wanted to get.
“There are some positives in there amongst some negatives but we go to the next game [at home against Cardiff on Saturday] to try and rectify that and do better next week.”
The Reds improved once they fell behind early in the second half, but Grabban added: “We want to build on a good start ourselves and try and get a goal. We were disappointed with the two goals and hopefully we can stop those mistakes.
“It is a big thing for us, we need to keep that intensity and put in a good performance from the start to the end. We need to try and establish that more often so we can dominate games and control games.
“If we can try and take that second half into the beginning and throughout the whole game next week then we should be fine.”
