Hope Street in Glasgow city centre shut down due to 'dangerous building'

Hope Street in Glasgow city centre has this evening been shut down due to a 'dangerous building'.

Glasgow City Council confirmed the street, in the heart of central Glasgow, has been closed between West George Street and West Regent Street.

They advise a crane is on-site in response to the incident.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM), confirmed shortly before 5.30pm: "Hope Street is currently closed to all traffic between West George Street and West Regent Street due to a dangerous building.

"A crane is currently on site and contractors are dealing with the incident.

"Further updates will be issued when more information becomes available."

Glasgow Live have contacted Police Scotland for comment.

UPDATE: Hope Street now reopened to traffic
