'Hope lightning doesn't strike twice' - Some fans have worrying theory about new Spurs stadium

The day is finally here where the new Tottenham stadium opens it's doors to the Premier League for the first time.

There is plenty of excitement from fans, players and coaches alike - and maybe even a few neutrals too. The ground at the site of the old White Hart Lane looks ready to be the standard-bearer for arenas across the world.

It might be late but it looks like Daniel Levy and co have really pulled it out of the bag.

The chairman had big demands for the stadium.

"We're building a home for generations. Some years ago I said to Chris [Lee, the managing director of stadium building architectural firm Populous] I'm going to set you a challenge," he said.

"I want you to design a stadium that sets a new standard in fan experience, player experience, sponsor experience, a building that will be ultimately measured and remembered among the iconic architecture in Europe. We want this to be something that's known throughout the world.

"It was a big challenge. I wanted something that was iconic and different and catered for all our fans, not just corporate fans. I'm very passionate about that. I think we've delivered an iconic stadium, certainly from the reaction we've had from our own fans so far, they've been very pleased with what they've seen."

Spurs fans can already feel the hairs on the arms rising and they aren't even inside yet. But with that comes a sense of dread about this evening's visitors.

The Eagles have already beaten Tottenham this season and former Lilywhite Andros Townsend was one of the scorers. There is definitely a worry he could spoil the party this evening by claiming the stadium's first goal.
