One of Donald Trump's closest aides has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.
Hope Hicks, a adviser to the president, travelled with the US leader on Air Force One to his election debate in Ohio on Tuesday.
She was reportedly in even closer quarters with Mr Trump aboard the president helicopter Marine One on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old would be the closest aide to Mr Trump to test positive for Covid-19 so far.
According to reports in the US, Ms Hicks tested positive on Thursday and is experiencing symptoms of the disease.
But there was no indication Mr Trump himself has contracted the coronavirus, which has infected more than 7.2 million Americans and killed more than 200,000 of them.
White House spokesman Judd Deere said: "The president takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously."
"White House Operations collaborates with the physician to the president and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidance and best practices for limiting Covid-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible both on complex and when the president is traveling," he added.
Ms Hicks, one of the president's most trusted aides, previously served as White House communications director and rejoined the administration this year ahead of the election.
Multiple White House staffers have tested positive for Covid, including Katie Miller, Vice President Mike Pence's press secretary, as well as one of the president's personal valets.
