Hope Fungie is alive as wildlife group capture possible sighting - and he may have moved county

Some great news this morning as a possible sighting of Fungie the dolphin has been reported off the coast of Cork according to a marine wildlife group.

Fungie has been missing from his home in Dingle since November with locals hoping that he had just gone for a little swim.

However hope faded as the months went on with no sign of the little fella - CorkBeo reports.

Now new footage has emerged of a bottlenose dolphin interacting with boats off the Old Head of Kinsale that has given people hope that it is in fact Fungie - CorkBeo reports.

According to ORCA Ireland this is the second sighting of the individual solitary bottlenose dolphin off Kinsale and they say it could well be Fungie.

In a video shared by the group a playful dolphin can be seen larking around in the water in front of some boats in the area.

They also asked people to let them know if they have encountered the solitary dolphin and his attention seeking behaviour to see if they can find out if it is the famous dolphin.

You can use the hashtag #Tech4Good to help marine scientists monitor marine wildlife around the Irish coast.

ORCA Ireland are also asking people to download their Observers App where you can log encounters with wildlife and help them #FindFungie.
