Hope as number of new coronavirus cases in Leeds goes down

Coronavirus cases in Leeds now stand at 743 - that's 36 less cases recorded in the latest figures.

However, cases in Yorkshire as a whole went up by over 140.

The Department for Health states that 103,093 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the UK and the death toll has reached 13,729.

Today, NHS England announced another 740 people, including 79 in Yorkshire, have died after contracting the virus.

The patients were aged between 28 and 103 years old and 40 of the 740 patients (aged between 45 and 93 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

It is expected that ministers today will announce a further three week extension to the UK lockdown.

Leeds - was 779 now 743

Wakefield - was 353 now 344

North Yorkshire - was 532 now 542

Sheffield - was 1,365 now 1,412

Barnsley - was 379 now 415

Bradford - was 493 now 460

Rotherham - was 383 now 407

Kirklees - was 369 now 381

York - was 149 now 153

Doncaster - was 210 now 239

East Yorkshire - was 248 now 272
