'Hope Arsenal are watching!' - Gunners fans send transfer message to Edu over Abdoulaye Doucoure

Some Arsenal fans have made their intentions clear when it comes to Watford midfiderl Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Watford midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from Vicarage Road in the past, amid reported interest from Tottenham and Everton in previous transfer windows.

The 27-year-old has been a key man for the Hornets in recent seasons, since joining the club from Rennes in 2016.

He has impressed in the Premier League, with his performances attracting attention from elsewhere, and last year he stated his intention to play in the Champions League.

Premier League relegation odds

"Yes, I think I will leave Watford," he said in an interview with French TV channel Canal +.

"The club are aware of my ambitions and want to help me go up a level. So if it doesn't happen this winter we'll have a look at things this summer and the possibilities available."

That has failed to materialise, and he has stayed with Watford, where he continues to be a key player in their battle to avoid relegation.

And after scoring a stunning goal in the battle with relegation rivals Brighton, he has got Arsenal fans talking on social media, as can be seen below with some sending a message to the Gunners technical director Edu Gaspar and head of football Raul Sanllehi.

Since joining Watford in 2016, he has played more than 100 times for the Hornets, and he has now scored 17 goals.

His strike at the Amex Stadium was his fourth goal of the current campaign, coming in his 27th appearance of the season.

Doucoure is under contract at Watford until 2023, having signed a new five-year deal in August 2018.
