Hooters speak out about plans for new restaurant at Salford Quays

Hooters has invited all of Salford to come and experience their hospitality after their plan to bring their second UK restaurant to the Quays was revealed. The restaurant chain is well-known for having scantily clad waitresses serving customers with food and drink.

They have applied for a licence for an outlet at Salford Quays for live music, recorded music and dance performances. The only other Hooters in the UK is based in Nottingham, but another one has been given the go-ahead in Liverpool against a backlash of opposition.

The plans for a Hooters in Liverpool was met by a petition which slated the chain as 'an archaic and chauvinistic brand'.

If granted by Salford City Council, it will open from 9am to 1am seven days a week, along the lines of US-based Hooters restaurants.

A spokesman for Hooters said: “For nearly four decades, Hooters restaurants have built a reputation around the world for offering great times for everyone. From iconic food and beverages such as wings, burgers, seafood, beers and cocktails to world-famous Hooters Girls and our Heart of House employees who create a one-of-a-kind guest experience, Hooters is the ideal place for guests to cheer on their favourite sports teams or celebrate any occasion with friends or family.

“Just as importantly, we are part of the fabric of communities with initiatives to raise funds for breast cancer and programs to honour local heroes including the military. We are pleased to bring our restaurant concept to the people of Salford Quays and trust the community will experience our hospitality for themselves.”

In the application, Mr Mills has agreed to advertise his application 'in the local newspaper. It was agreed that this notice should appear at least once within 10 working days of the application being submitted'.

According to their website, Hooters specialise in “great food, an abundance of cold drinks, perfect sports coverage and most of all service with a smile”.
