Hooded thug robs pensioner in his Ayr home after pushing and threatening him

A pensioner has been robbed within his own home after answering the door to a hooded thug.

The 81-year-old victim had a sum of money stolen from him by the robber who pushed and threatened him at his home in James Street, Ayr .

The suspect, who was wearing dark clothing with his hood up and is believed to be around 6ft tall and 30 years old, then cycled off on a mountain bike towards George Street and Elba Street.

The robbery took place at around 8.30am on the morning of Sunday,  June 9, and police are now investigating.

Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch, Ayr CID, said: “This was a very distressing experience for the victim who has been left clearly shaken and distressed after the incident.

“Thankfully he was not injured however this was a very frightening experience for him. It is imperative that we trace the man responsible for this attack as soon as possible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at that time and saw anything suspicious to contact police via the non-emergency number 101.”
