Honouring national hero Captain Sir Tom Moore

After a private funeral ceremony by his family, Captain Sir Tom Moore has been laid to rest.

His legacy is one that will live long after his inspirational efforts during the UK's first lockdown last year, walking 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden to raise money for NHS charities.

He ended up capturing the hearts of the nation and, thanks to his feat of endurance at the age of 99, raised an astonishing £33million.

He was knighted by the Queen later in the year in recognition of his efforts.

Captain Sir Tom passed away at the age of 100 on February 2. Since then, journalists working in collaboration from InYourArea, the Mirror, Yorkshire Live and Bedfordshire Live have been busy creating a lasting memorial to do his achievements proud.
