A truly shocking real-life murder plot will be brought into the primetime spotlight when highly anticipated new series Honour starts on ITV this week.
The two part drama looks at the murder of Banaz Mahmod who was killed for falling in love with the wrong man.
In events that made headline news and shocked the nation over a decade ago, her body was found in a suitcase buried in a back garden and it was later revealed she was murdered on the brutal orders of her father and uncle, in a so-called "honour" killing.
The cast is led by Ashes to Ashes and Bodyguard actress Keeley Hawes in the role of Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Goode, the woman who desperately tried to find out what happened to Banaz and was left appalled by oversights made by her own colleagues on reports that could well have saved the young woman's life.
Speaking about the ITV drama, Keeley said: "It is a privilege to be working on Honour as Buddy Club's first ever project. In a time where honour killings are still rife, it is critical to shine a light on such an important subject. Banaz Mahmod's story, and DCI Goode’s subsequent investigation, is certainly one that needs to be told and I am proud to be a part of it.”
Filming began on Honour last autumn and Keeley isn't the only recogniseable name in its cast, although a number of its stars are newcomers.
