Honjo receives Nobel Prize medal, diploma from Swedish king

STOCKHOLM -- Tasuku Honjo, a distinguished professor at Kyoto University, received an award diploma and medal for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony at a concert hall in Stockholm on Monday.

Honjo, 76, attended the ceremony in traditional Japanese formal attire of a haori coat and hakama trousers.

"I'm very glad, honestly," he said, fondly looking at the medal with his wife, Shigeko, 76.
