Hong Kong protests: Police fire rubber bullets at protesters from close range

Footage shows police firing what looks like rubber bullets at fleeing protesters in Hong Kong yesterday.

Police shot at people inside Tai Koo station and are said to have fired tear gas and non-lethal ammunition in other closed stations and areas such as shopping district Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island.

The violent clash follows ongoing confrontation between police and protesters in the city since the announcement of an extradition bill two months ago.

The video showed people being beaten with batons and police firing at close range.

Clashes started on Sunday afternoon when a peaceful rally in Victoria Park moved to a main road, banned by the authorities.

Many protesters and one police officer were reportedly injured.
