Violent clashes broke out after riot police descended on Hong Kong airport where protesters caused flights to be cancelled for a second day.
Thousands of black-clad protesters flooded the airport earlier today, disrupting operations at one of the world's busiest transport hubs by chanting, singing and waving banners.
Hong Kong's leader Carrie Lam said the territory had been pushed into a state of "panic and chaos" as its stock market fell to a seven-month low.
Chinese troops were also filmed gathering at the border as part of a "drill," according to state media after months of civil unrest sparked by intense opposition to a proposed Chinese extradition bill.
