Hong Kong activists jailed over 2014 'Umbrella’ protests

Hong Kong activists jailed over 2014 'Umbrella’ protests

In Hong Kong, two pro-democracy activists have started serving jail sentences for their role in the so-called "Umbrella Protests" four years ago.

The judge rejected a request for Joshua Wong and Raphael Wong to be released on bail while they appeal. Fourteen other defendants convicted of obstructing police were either fined or given suspended jail sentences.

Al Jazeera's Divya Gopalan reports from Hong Kong.
