Honey Boo Boo breaks her silence after sister Chickadee's stage 4 cancer diagnosis

Honey Boo Boo has broken her silence after her sister Chickadee revealed she is battling a rare form of cancer.

Chickadee, whose real name is Anna Cardwell, was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma back in January and began chemotherapy last month.

Speaking about her sister's cancer diagnosis, Honey Boo Boo took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday to tell her fans "you never truly know what somebody is going through".

The 17-year-old, whose real name is Alana Thompson, said: "This is what I mean when I say you never truly know what somebody is going through at home."

Alongside a screenshot of an article about her sister's diagnosis, she added: "No matter how famous they are. yes, I'm very famous, but normal s**t happens to me and my family & y'all need to realize that ASAP."

Mum-of-two Anna has updated fans on her chemotherapy treatment and revealed her hair has now started to fall out.

The 28-year-old has taken to wearing a wig to cover the hair loss as she continues to battle.

Anna had complained about stomach aches before her adrenal carcinoma was discovered by doctors. After undergoing tests, doctors discovered the cancer in her liver, kidney and lung.

According to the Mayo Clinic, adrenal carcinoma is a rare cancer that begins in one or both of the small, triangular glands which are located on top of your kidneys.

It is often referred to as adrenocortical cancer and can occur at any age.

A family source told TMZ : "28-year-old Anna recently underwent her first round of chemo and her hair's coming out in chunks.

"Her hair, however, is almost beside the point, as she battles adrenal carcinoma cancer that has spread to her lungs, kidney and liver."

Doctors are said to be waiting to see how the star reacts to the initial chemotherapy treatment before any future decisions are made on what they can try next.

Her family is reportedly "very hopeful" the mum-of-two will pull through and have been chipping in to help with 10-year-old Kaitlyn and Kylee, seven.

Meanwhile, Anna's boyfriend Elridge is also said to be sticking by her side throughout the scary period.
