Honesty most important in choosing whom to vote for: Poll

Honesty is the most important quality when people decide whom they will vote for in the election expected early next year, according to an opinion poll by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University, or Suan Dusit Poll.

The poll was carried out on 1,034 people throughout the country on Aug 8-11 to compile their opinions on which factors will most influence their decision to vote for a candidate running for the House of Representatives in the forthcoming election tentatively set for early 2019.

Asked to mention the most important factor that will influence their decision to vote for a candidate in the next election, honesty came first with 27.95%; knowledge and capability 25.16%; personal background 16.17%; education 15.86%; and political experience 14.86%.

Asked what the ideal occupation for an election candidate is, government officials came first with 29.06%; businesspeople 25.42%; lawyers 22.03%; academics 15.98% and, military officers 7.51%.

Regarding the best educational background for candidates, graduates in the field of economics were named by 41.22%; political science 22.01%; business administration 14.75%; law 14.53%; and development administration 7.49%.
