'Shame' - Nottingham Forest fans gutted with latest club announcement

Nottingham Forest have put back their plans to redevelop the City Ground - and Reds supporters are gutted.

Work on revitalising the stadium was due to start this summer, once the 2019/20 season had been completed.

Phase one of the project was set to see the Peter Taylor Stand knocked down and rebuilt to an increased capacity of 10,000.

But today it has emerged that the club are still awaiting the green light on a planning application, forcing them to alter their timescale.

A statement from the club said: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that season card holders in the Peter Taylor Stand can renew their seat from this Wednesday.

“The club had planned that major construction work would begin in May this year, however due to delays in the planning process the club is not in a position to start the development at the end of the current season.

“The club remains fully committed to the project and will continue to work towards securing all the relevant approvals, and is evaluating the options for the new timescale in order to minimise disruption for supporters."

Here is was Reds fans have been saying upon learning the news...

Jacob: This year is honestly dreadful.

Jamie Briody: Looking at a good year delay at least now, I reckon.

Adam Fedko: Shame, missed opportunity to start early as I can't see any more games to be played this season.

Phil Smithhurst: Well, well. Thats a surprise

James Taylor: Must be some real jobsworths knocking about in that planning department. Unbelievable lack of vision.

Nigel Hemsley: Does that mean we’ve all got to the 17th April to renew our season cards no matter where we sit in the ground?

John Price: The best they can do is to arrange for last six fixtures of season to all be away from home and rip the stand down in April next year.
