A player in Honduras reacted to a post-match pitch invasion by fans by kicking one of the supporters in the head.

The event took place following the game between Club Deportivo Marathón and Real España at the Estadio Yankel Rosenthal in the north-west city of San Pedro Sula.

Marathón had won the cup quarter-final 2-0, with goals either side of half-time from Mario Berrios and Johnny Leverón, but Real España progressed to the semi-finals 4-3 on aggregate.

After the final whistle blew, Marathón fans who were angry at their side’s failure to progress, ran on to the pitch before chasing and attacking players from either side. They were soon followed by fans of Real España as well as the police, who restored ordered after 10 minutes.

However, before that could happen, Marlon Peña, the Real España right-back, ran and kicked an opposing fan in the head, before retreating.
