Honda's Pouring Millions Into Its North Carolina Plant, Creating Jobs

The sentiment "If you want something done right, do it yourself" is advice that's been handed down from generation to generation, probably ever since humans developed the power of speech. Now Honda, it seems, is taking those words to heart, as it plans a nearly $10M expansion of its North Carolina Manufacturing Plant.

In case you aren't familiar, this is the plant where Honda builds 100 percent of the ATVs it sells in North America, ever since a shift in production in 2023. So if you're a fan of Honda ATVs and you're in North America, this is the place where they're all coming from. And now, thanks to this massive influx of cash from elsewhere in the company, it's about to embark upon building key ATV parts and accessories right there on the NC premises.

This money will be spent on multiple things, from modernizing the facilities and equipment to training and upskilling workers at the plant so they can advance and participate in these new jobs. Also, a total of 18 new jobs will be added to the plant. It may not sound like a huge number, but it's still 18 more than there were yesterday, right?

For its part, Honda views this as a benefit to production, as this investment will result in probable reduction of environmental impact in a few key ways. Shipping back and forth will be lessened, as Honda will be making more parts in-house, in the place where it's already making the full complement of ATVs that it sells across the continent. Also, Honda says it fully plans to integrate its plastic pellet recycling processes for the body panels and such that use them, so it will be able to reduce environmental impacts that way as well.

Some of its new equipment, Honda says, will utilize electricity to greater degrees than before, also helping with Honda's global carbon footprint reduction goals
