The Honda CR-V has won the 2017 Thailand Car of the Year award, ahead of the Toyota Yaris Ativ and BMW 5 Series.

Honda’s car-based SUV garnered 228 points given out by various car-testers from the Thai automotive media.
The Yaris Ativ and 5 Series accumulated 192 and 157 points accordingly.
The announcement was made this evening at an awards ceremony. Given out by the Thai Automotive Journalists Association, judges had to take into account the cars’ product attributes.
All eligible candidates need to be assembled in Thailand and launched between Oct 1 2016 and Sept 30 2017.
The other finalists were Honda Civic Hatchback (155 points), Mercedes-Benz E-Class (150), Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe (132) and Nissan Note (130).
The Thailand Car of the Year award is now in its third year. The two previous winners were Mazda CX-3 and Ford Everest.
