A cannabis dealer who harassed a neighbour through a doorbell camera has been jailed.
Anthony Roberts was in breach of a suspended sentence for possession with intent to supply cannabis when he committed the offences at Wortley Heights in Wortley, Leeds between January and February this year.
Leeds Crown Court heard Roberts had also been buying and selling stolen bikes, including ones that had been stolen at Leeds University.
The 37-year-old was jailed for a year and four months after pleading guilty to threatening to damage property, use threatening behaviour with intent to cause harassment, harassment and three counts of handling stolen goods, Leeds Live reported.
The court was informed the harassment victim has two slipped disks in his back and uses a mobility scooter.
At around 5.30am one morning in January, he was woken up by someone shouting a homophobic slur through his flat's front door.
He used an app on his phone to access his doorbell camera and saw Roberts at the door.
The victim told Roberts not to call him that name and Roberts said he would put the door in.
Roberts claimed he had family in the police, had accessed the victim's record and called the victim derogatory names.
He claimed police couldn't 'do anything' about his actions as he was 'all masked up'.
In his police interview, the defendant said he was upset about a comment the victim had made but could not remember what it was or the incident.
On the morning of January 30, he shone a torch at his doorbell for around a minute before leaving, returning and doing it again.
Just over a week later, the defendant shone a torch at the victim's doorbell again.
On February 20, he hung a bedsheet between their flats to make a screen and said: "You can't see me now."
He continued calling the victim names and said: "If I see you outside, you're getting it."
In his second police interview, he admitted being upset that the victim's camera was pointed into his flat but denied the offences.
In a statement, the victim said he is always worried about leaving his flat so the harassment has affected his mental health.
Also in January this year, police attended Wortley's flat as part as an investigation into a series of burglaries committed in the Woodhouse area between between November 2019 and January 2020.
They found several expensive bicycles worth up to more than £5,000 in his flat.
In his police interview, he said he buys and sells bikes to make a profit.
He was released under investigation.
In March this year, police found that Roberts had sold a bike that had been stolen from Leeds University for £50 at a pawnbrokers.
Police went to his flat to arrest him and found another bike that had been stolen from the university.
When asked why he continued buying bikes while under investigation, he said: "It's just one of those things."
Roberts has 18 previous convictions for 28 offences, including harassment.
Gerald Henderson, mitigating, said his client was 'disturbed' that the victim's camera was pointed across the corridor into his flat.
He said he feels badly about how he behaved and his intention is to swap flats with another council tenant.
The court was told Roberts is a regular cannabis user who has self-harmed in custody but is now on medication.
