Homicide squad investigating after body found south-east of Perth

Police have cordoned off a large area of bushland where a body was found in Bedfordale, south-east of Perth.

WA homicide detectives are investigating after a body was discovered in bushland, about 30 kilometres south-east of Perth.

A member of the public called police early on Sunday morning, alerting them to an area off Canning Dam Road in Bedfordale.

Detectives and forensic officers will return to the scene today.

Acting Inspector Paul Tolan said police could not release any further details.

"Obviously there's police blocks in place, so Canning Dam Road in Bedfordale has been blocked off," he said.

"Our forensics operators are in place at the moment and homicide squad are doing their inquiries."

Police have not revealed whether the remains are male or female.

More details are expected to be released later today.
