Homes without water as temperatures drop to -11C in parts of Renfrewshire

Hundreds of Paisley families have been left without water for the second time this week as temperatures in the area plunged to a near all time low.

Scottish Water has confirmed engineers are en route to the town to investigate the problem affecting homes in the PA2 postcode area.

This morning’s disruption follows a similar problem last Sunday when the same homes were left without water for three hours.

It comes hours after temperatures dropped to -11C in parts of Renfrewshire - possibly the lowest temperature recorded since December 2010.

Glasgow Airport recorded the freezing temperatures in the early hours, while the thermometer dropped to -8C in nearby Bishopton before midnight.

Scottish Water said: “We are currently on the way to investigate the issue and are aiming to be on site as soon as possible.

“While we investigate, please be aware that you may experience no water supply or low/intermittent water pressure. You may also experience discoloured water.
