Homes without water as supply interrupted for fifth time in Bearsden

Residents in Bearsden are suffering a fifth interruption to their water supply in weeks.

Scottish Water have confirmed that there is currently a loss of water supply /low pressure affecting homes within the G61 postcode area.

This comes after a burst water pipe on North Dumgoyne Avenue in Milngavie caused interruption to water supply to the G61 area of Bearsden as well as in Milngavie.

One local took to Twitter to confirm they have had no water for the past two days.

They said: "Second morning without water. I attend the Beatson and have a low immune system. I was promised bottled water yesterday but didn’t receive it. This is the 5th/6th occasion in the past 12 months on some occasions for 3 or 4 days! G61 area".

A look at Scottish Water's own Twitter account confirms that today's interruption is the fifth to hit the area since the end of February.

A statement on Scottish Water's website said: "Customers in Bearsden have reported an interruption to their water supply.

"We are currently on the way to investigate the issue and are aiming to be on site as soon as possible.

"While we investigate, please be aware that you may experience no water supply or low/intermittent water pressure. You may also experience discoloured water".
