Homes Under the Hammer's Martin Roberts' bad week gets worse as he issues stark warning from A&E

Homes Under the Hammer host Martin Roberts has posted an emotional video after ending up in A&E as a bad week for the presenter simply got worse.

Martin, from Warrington , was undertaking some gardening when disaster struck - just days after he was in court over a drink-driving case.

Martin, 56, was cutting back a plant called Euphorbia when he got some sap in his eyes and ended up having a severe reaction.

He posted a minute-long video from the hospital waiting room telling his followers about the incident and warning them to be wary - reports Bristol Live.

He said: "This is a really important warning, it's 3.30am in the morning and I'm in A&E.

"I was doing some gardening earlier on and there's a plant called Euphorbia.

"When you cut it as I did, it produces a sap and if you get it on your hands or worse on your eyes, it causes some serious issues.

"It started to sting and it's got worse and worse as the evening has gone on."

He added the stinging prevented him from sleeping that night and urged followers to wear goggles while dealing with the plant.

He captioned the video "Not been a good week, all in all." in reference to his court appearance on Friday.

The 56-year-old was at Bristol Crown Court to appeal a drink driving conviction.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in November last year.

The property show host maintains the breathalyser reading could have been contaminated by his asthma inhaler.

After the appeal was dismissed last Friday, he told Bristol Live: "This is a bad day for me. But it is also a terrible day for asthma sufferers."

Martin posted a video later on today telling fans that he had left hospital but was still suffering and felt "lousy."

He thanked fans for their concern and messages of goodwill.

He then showed his followers the offending plant that had caused all the drama.
