Kitchen The all-white kitchen, from John Luke, features glass splashbacks to help bounce around the limited natural light. Open shelves run the length of the walls and provide a constantly revolving display area that currently includes the 'subversive crows', Peel’s grandmother’s Denbyware and a giant blue teapot – 'We both have very large extended families, so birthday parties require industrial quantities of tea,' says designer Delia Peel, the apartment's current owner. Living Room 'The lights were probably our biggest extravagance but they are incredibly beautiful; they make the flat become something else,' notes Peel of the elegant George Nelson Saucer Bubble pendant design, purchased from SCP . Storage has been relegated to one wall, to allow room for a generous sofa, which was a cast-off from a friend – Sofa.com’s Bluebell design is a close match, while the Quentin sofa by Made is similar to the neat, 1950s style piece in front of the French windows. Living Room The couple were unable to make the fireplace a working feature, so instead it was papered with Thornback & Peel’s Pigeon design. It is flanked with two compact work areas: Swayne’s late Victorian, Louis XVI style roll-top desk and a white cabinet designed by Peel, who admits to being “deeply jealous of the desk”. The Elliot task lamp is from John Lewis. The small Victorian chair, which is waiting to be re-upholstered, is deemed 'remarkably comfortable – it takes some very large relatives without any protesting'. Photograph: Rachel Smith

Living Room detail The blackbird print is by fellow printmaker Fanny Shorter, who works from the same creative hub, Cockpit Arts, as Thornback & Peel. The floor lamp came from Peel’s family home; the Task floor lamp by Original BTC is similar. Photograph: Rachel Smith

Dining Room Prior to inheriting this painted table from Swayne’s mother, the couple had a small rectangular design. 'It was poky and uncomfortable, everyone complained their knees couldn’t fit under it – this is a much more generous design, it makes entertaining a real pleasure,' admits Peel, who confesses to being a 'supper rather than dinner sort of host'. The pale oak floor from Trade Woods runs throughout the flat. For a similar design to the black chairs – bought from The Conran Shop but now discontinued – try Vitra’s SIM chair, available from Nest Photograph: Rachel Smith

Entrance Hall This deep bench was designed to incorporate plenty of storage. The iconic Hang It All coat rack by Ray Eames – available from The Conran Shop – was a wedding present; Peel added a second one and hung them side by side. Photograph: Rachel Smith

Bedroom'I am a country girl, and nature is a huge inspiration to me,' notes Peel of the framed photographs of trees, which were taken in Scotland by photographer friend Raine Smith. The white bedlinen is enlivened with an orange throw, geometric cushions by Gail Bryson for Future & Found and a Rabbit Spot design by Thornback & Peel . The Elliot task lamp is from John Lewis. Sol's bedroom Peel is a huge fan of upholstering with prints: 'There is something very appealing about using them to hide the mess that comes with having children,' she says. The armchair is in Thornback & Peel’s Rabbit & Cabbage linen ; the Bird & Egg blind fabric is another of the company’s designs. The lampshade is by Lush Designs. Photograph: Rachel Smith
