Homes evacuated in Dinas Powys after electricity pole went up in flames

Homes were evacuated after an electricity pole went up in flames in Dinas Powys .

Electricity to around 83 properties in the area was off for a time, but has now been restored.

Video from the scene shows a large fire and huge flames coming from the pole near Eastbrook railway station.

Rail services were not affected.

Staff from Western Power Distribution worked through the night to fix the issue as live cables were left on the road.

Temporary traffic lights were in place on the A4055 Cardiff Road in both directions around Eastbrook railway station on Thursday morning to allow engineers to work at the scene.

The road had been closed for two hours but re-opened at around 2am.
