Homes evacuated as fire crews called to house blaze in Nottingham street

Properties were evacuated in New Basford after a house fire on a street.

Crews from Stockhill, West Bridgford and Hucknall Fire Station attended a house fire in Beech Avenue in New Basford.

Fire crews were called to the incident just before 10pm on Tuesday, June 1, a spokesperson for the service confirmed.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) and Nottinghamshire Police were also in attendance.

One person was taken to hospital and neighbouring properties were evacuated.

Ten breathing apparatus (BA) were used to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

A fire investigation will be carried out later today (Wednesday, June 2), and it has now been handed over to the police.
