Homes England appoints Avison Young to North Somerset housing scheme

Real estate firm Avison Young has been appointed by Government housing body Homes England to lead the developer search for the next two phases of a residential scheme in North Somerset.

The mixed-use development at Locking Parklands, a partnership between Homes England and property investment firm St Modwen, is set within a large area of open parkland on the edge of Weston-super-Mare.

The site covers 10.1 acres and has outline planning permission for around 230 new homes, along with 20,000 sq ft of commercial and retail space. The development is situated close to two new schools, a doctors’ surgery that is under construction and a community park area.

An invitation to tender is being prepared by Homes England and Avison Young for developers which have been shortlisted through the Government body's Dynamic Purchasing System.

“These two sites at Locking Parklands occupy a prime position that will be at the heart of the community," said Daniel Rich, associate director at Avison Young in Bristol.

“With a shortlist of residential developers in place, we’ll soon be in a position to invite tenders for this new phase of development, delivering sustainable, high-quality homes and new jobs.”

Once complete, Locking Parklands will deliver up to 1,450 homes in total, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom detached houses.

Avison Young has also acted on land acquisition, planning and agency advice at the development as part of its relationship with Homes England and St Modwen, it said.
