Saudi air defenses shot down an armed drone fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen towards the Kingdom.

The General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense confirmed that shrapnel from the aircraft landed in residential areas in the al-Masarihah province, damaging several homes.

No one was injured or killed in the failed attack.

Spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Jazan region, Colonel Mohammed bin Yahiya Al-Ghamdi said the directorate had received on Friday several reports of shrapnel landing in the area from the downing of the drone.

Shops were also damaged in the incident.

The Saudi-led Arab coalition confirmed that it had shot down the aircraft that was aimed at Jazan, adding that it was handling the sources of threats to protect civilians from hostile attacks.
